Void War puts the player in charge of an ancient starship, sending them on a journey to the heart of a dying Empire. This vessel is described as a powerful and fearsome weapon, filled with arcane technology. Objectives include repelling attacks from mad cultists, cowardly space pirates and xenophobic Imperial soldiers. Discovering powerful artifacts allows you to transform the starship into a fearsome fighting machine.

Starship control is a component of the gameplay in Void War, where you will need to use weapons, modules and reactor power to maximize your combat potential. The crew can be recruited from 6 different factions, equipped with a vast arsenal of equipment and then engage in bloody, strategic boarding operations against enemy ships. These clashes result in the crushing of enemies or the painful death of crew in the heat of space war. Upgrades can be combined into effective combinations for pinpoint destruction of opponents; enemies have the ability to employ similar tactics against the player.

The galaxy unfolds through hundreds of randomly generated events, ensuring that each playthrough of this game will offer new situations. Navigating this harsh and relentless space requires resource management and tactical interaction. Each session weaves a new story, influenced by encounters with entities such as techno-cult mages, Imperial deserters, and demon lords. The decisions made during these encounters directly impact the state of the ship and the survival of the crew in this grim techno-gothic future.
